A tandem flight is one of the pricier half-days in the Alps, and the extras change the total. How much is paragliding in Switzerland once photos, cable cars and transfers are counted? Here are the real figures, place by place.

Prices at a glance
Swiss tourism offices publish their own prices for tandem flights, in francs. The Aletsch Arena says a flight there costs between CHF 140 and 240, depending on the duration and the flight path.1 Lucerne Tourism lists SkyGlide flights in Central Switzerland from CHF 185 per person, and Switzerland Tourism shows an Interlaken offer called Paragliding for all from CHF 155.23
On GetYourGuide, where you can book with free cancellation, the flights compared on this site start at $209 for the Airtime flight from Mürren. At the other end, a private Zermatt flight with Matterhorn views starts from $420. Each of these figures is a starting price, and it shifts with the date, the time slot and the currency you pick.
The headline price is only part of the bill. Most operators sell the photos and video separately, some leave the cable car to the take-off out of the price, and a few bundle everything. Comparing the base price alone can make an expensive flight look cheap and a fair one look dear, which is why the sections below add the extras flight by flight.

The Mürren paragliding cost starts with the Airtime booking, from $209, which includes the flight, a licensed tandem pilot, a helmet, boots or a jacket when needed, and insurance. Photos and videos of the flight cost an extra 40 CHF, and getting to the meeting point in Mürren is not included. Airtime adds on its own site that the footage can be seen after the flight before you decide.5
The trip up is cheap or free. The Schilthornbahn charges adults CHF 11.80 one way from Stechelberg to Mürren, half with the Half Fare Card, and nothing with the GA travelcard or a Swiss Travel Pass.4 Airtime points out that you only need the one-way ticket, since you fly back down to the valley.6
The panorama flight from Birg starts from $235, with tandem gear and third-party and accident insurances in the price. Its listing leaves out the ride up to the take-off, and offers photos on demand. Ask before the day which ticket you need for the cable car leg, as it adds to the total.

The cable car from Stechelberg to Mürren is free with the pass.4
Photos, 4K videos and the cable car are in its record.
Bus, flight and free time in Interlaken in 10 hours.
Expect from $372 plus the ride to the take-off.
A paraglider flight in the Aletsch Arena costs between CHF 140 and 240. The price depends on the duration and the flight path.
Interlaken has the most choice. The Skywings flight from Beatenberg to the Höhematte starts from $223 and includes transport, hiking boots and the equipment; digital photos and videos are sold on site. It is also the most reviewed flight on this page, with 2,580 reviews at 4.94.
AlpinAir's flight starts from $223, includes free transfers if you are close to the take-off area, and sells photos and HD video for an extra 40 CHF. The Paragliding Interlaken flight starts from $235, with the bus to Beatenberg and mountain shoes included and the pilot's photos sold for 40 Swiss francs at the landing field.
The high flight with Swiss Paragliding & Adventure starts from $259; it includes the transfer to the take-off, while its film and photo service is not included. In Interlaken you land in the middle of town, within walking distance of the hotels and stations according to one listing.

Zermatt flights cost more. The flight with Matterhorn Paragliding starts from $372; transport to the take-off is not included, and the photo and video package is 40 CHF per person after the flight. The FLYBYPARA flight starts from $420 for a private group, with the mountain railway ticket and a CHF 40 photo package outside the price.
Near Lucerne the flights start from Emmetten or Stans. CAP Paragliding starts from $267, with the cable car to the take-off, about CHF 10 to 15, paid separately. Switzerland Paragliding's flight there starts from $273 and lists a camera with the tandem gear.
One listing near Stans bundles nearly everything: from $296, its record includes photos and 4K videos, the cable car up the mountain and the insurance. It has only 6 reviews so far, all at 5.00. All-inclusive prices are easier to compare, and they remove the moment of deciding about photos after you land.
If you are staying in a city, a day trip packages transport and flight together. The Keytours day from Zurich to Interlaken starts from $394 and lasts 10 hours, with bus transport, a driver guide, the paragliding and free time in Interlaken; food and drinks are extra.
From Geneva the same company runs a 13-hour trip from $461, with 10 to 20 minutes of paragliding. Read its weather line closely: the flight may be cancelled after you leave Geneva, and then only the paragliding part is refunded.
These bundles make sense when you have no rail pass and only one free day. With a Swiss Travel Pass the trains are already paid for, and booking a flight directly in Interlaken or Mürren usually leaves more of the day under your own control. Compare the bundle price with the flight price plus your own train tickets before deciding.
Part of every price is the pilot's training. In Switzerland the SHV, acting for the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, runs the pilot examinations and issues the official licenses.7 A pilot flying paying passengers needs the Biplace 3 license, and for commercial flights it must be renewed every 3 years.8 Keeping it calls for 50 flights in 3 years, at least 10 of them in each year.9
Insurance is another fixed cost of the trade. The SHV says a special tandem insurance is required by law from the first stage of tandem training, and that it protects the passenger as well as the pilot.10 The tandem cover the association arranges for commercial pilots guarantees up to CHF 5 million for passenger claims, at a premium of CHF 967 a year.11
Then there is the gear, the transport, the time on the hill and the weather days when nobody flies and nobody pays. Seen that way, the price of a flight over the Lauterbrunnen valley is less about the minutes in the air than about the people and the system that keep those minutes uneventful. Reviewers of the Airtime flight score it 4.96 across 367 ratings.
Among the GetYourGuide listings compared here, the lowest from-price belongs to the Airtime flight from Mürren, at $209. For the cheapest paragliding in Switzerland on published franc prices, Switzerland Tourism's Interlaken offer starts from CHF 155, valid from 1 April to 30 September 2027.3
The savings that work are simple ones. Use a rail pass for the cable car to Mürren, which the Schilthornbahn carries free with the Swiss Travel Pass.4 Decide on photos only after you see them, which Airtime allows.5 And book with free cancellation, which every listing on this page offers up to 24 hours before.
Weather can also protect your money. Airtime says that if it cannot fly because of the weather you pay nothing, and you receive a full refund when the flight cannot be rescheduled.12 AlpinAir in Interlaken gives a full refund for a cancellation on its side due to bad weather. Keep a spare day in your plan and a cancelled flight costs you time, not money.
